Partnerships Add Energy to EE GlobalEE Global 2011 in Brussels was a resounding success. Comprised not just of speeches and exhibitions, the conference incorporated pre-conference workshops, benefited from the heightened awareness of energy efficiency thanks to EU Sustainable Energy Week, and was elevated to another level of "show-and-tell" via the Ambassador residence makeover. |
Final Executive Dialogue Sessions Round Out EE EducationExecutive Dialogue sessions four and five brought the educational aspect of EE Global to the forefront of Wednesday's schedule. Chances are, even if you were here, you weren't able to be two places at once. But fear not, the Alliance staff has you covered! We sent our writers out to sessions on the intersection of government and industry, zero energy buildings, and innovative financing mechanisms, among others. For recaps of the all the takeaways and key messages: |
Christiana Figueres: EE "Needs to Become the New Norm"Three days have come and gone in Brussels, with an invaluable exchange of energy efficiency best practices and ideas that will hopefully carry on and be implemented in the near future. Last, but certainly not least on the agenda was the EE Visionary Awards Luncheon, in which Christiana Figueres, UNFCCC executive secretary, said that "Energy efficiency should be treated as our most precious asset." |

That's All folks!EE Global 2011 in Brussels once again proved to gather the most prominent leaders, the most innovative exhibitors, and the most thoughtful crowd of attendees dedicated to advancing the cause of energy efficiency on a global scale. The event did not strike just one note, but hit a variety of chords to perk up any efficiency aficionado’s ears in hopes of a smarter, cleaner energy future. From EU Commissioner Oettinger’s call to action in the European Union, to UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres’ plea for international collaboration, to an efficiency makeover of one of the oldest embassy residences in the world, the message was clear: the time to adopt energy efficiency as the world’s first fuel is now, and the change-makers are every one of us. President of the Alliance to Save Energy Kateri Callahan was adamant in her message to heed the world’s urgent calls to action. Man-made disasters in the Gulf coast, natural disasters in the East and cultural crises in the Middle East have made it abundantly clear that the only safe alternative energy is using less of it, and in smarter ways. In her closing statement, Callahan said she looked forward to this next decade, which she coined the “Decade of Energy Efficiency,” where new technologies and more awareness of energy efficiency policies and behaviors pave the way for an energy revolution. With EE Global bringing together the makers of these products and policies, she’s confident these changes will happen sooner rather than later. |
