Message from Kateri Callahan:
Day 2

Day two of EE Global was a perfect follow-up to the success of the day before. From 8:30 this morning - when President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek discussed the EU's future energy initiatives - to 8:00 tonight - at the unveiling of the Ambassador residence makeover - we learned more about energy efficiency on a global scale than we could have anywhere else. The time in between wasn't too bad either - 12 executive dialogue sessions and a casual break in the Solutions Showcase made this, the longest day of EE Global, also the most fruitful thus far.

If you want a taste of what happened at the Ambassador makeover, I hope you'll watch our video recap and learn about the wide array of efficiency improvements that you can make at home or even in your office.

Overheard at the Solutions Showcase Luncheon

In a day with no shortage of quotable moments - from President Buzek's early-morning and coffee-substituting speech to the more than 40 Executive Dialogue speakers who spoke on a variety of topics - attendees were keen to share their experiences at lunchtime in the Solutions Showcase. Here's what they had to say in their own words:

Todd Edwards, Vrije Universiteit Brussels
"The morning plenary presentations highlighted the real necessity to have cooperative dialogue on obtainable solutions amongst business leaders, governments, and consumers because without this we are all likely to find that these separate paths do not meet."
Ajit Advani, International Copper Association
"The commitment to energy efficiency shown by the President of the EU Parliament was very encouraging."
Dr. Marian Rzepka, Internationale Zusammenarbeit Gmbh
"The (plenary) session provided a very good range of perspectives and underscored the importance of involving leaders from all sectors."

Stay tuned for more sounds following tomorrow's EE Visionary Awards & Closing Plenary Luncheon!

Tomorrow At EE Global

EE Global will come to a close tomorrow, or better yet, it will go out with a bang: Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the UNFCCC will speak at the Global EE Visionary Awards Luncheon, along with MEPs Lena Ek, Claude Turmes, Peter Liese and Bendt Bendtsen, among others. Executive Dialogue sessions will wrap up, too, marking 20 successful educational and collaborative forums on energy efficiency policy, innovations, case studies, finance and education. After the luncheon, all attendees, including speakers, sponsors and exhibitors, will have time to meet and hash out future intersections of their work with that of others they met in the past three days. Though it’s not the last opportunity for EE Global attendees to forge partnerships, this will be a great time to brainstorm solutions to meet our global energy needs.
