Morning Plenary Session

Energy Efficiency: The First Solution for Sustainable Energy for All
Wednesday, March 28th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

The UN recently designated 2012 the "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All," highlighting doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvements as one of the three objectives necessary to achieve this goal. As a resource that is available today, and that can effectively address energy concerns for both highly industrialized nations and developing countries, energy efficiency should be a first solution for countries and organizations around the world. And yet, the global call to action and momentum surrounding increases in energy efficiency pales in comparison to the other two objectives - universal access and renewables. This panel will bring together the foremost thought-leaders from international agencies and organizations that can take this critical designation and turn it into action. At the EE Global morning plenary session participants will discuss the policy drivers, funding needs and public-private partnerships necessary to not only achieve, but surpass, the UN's energy efficiency objective and bring energy efficiency to scale.
