4B: INDUSTRY & UTILITIES – Improving the Bottom Line: Innovative Mechanisms to Drive Industrial Efficiency

Dr. Koshy Cherail Dr. Koshy Cherail, is the President of Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), and one of its founders. Koshy has over 22 years of experience in program implementation, policy analysis and consulting with various bilateral and multi-lateral organizations, including World Bank, USAID and GTZ. He was the facilitator and key contact in India, for the Three-Country (Brazil, China and India) Energy Efficiency Financing Project of UNF/UNEP and World Bank based at the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) during 2002-06. Prior to that Koshy has worked with Winrock International, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Centre for Science & Environment, and the Energy Management Centre (Govt of India). Koshy is a Member of the Training Committee of Efficiency Valuation Organisation (EVO). He has been associated with various efforts to organise the ESCOs and EE businesses in India, which has culminated in the formation of the AEEE in 2008. He has represented Indian Energy and EE business sector at various international fora. Koshy has a PhD in Economics from University of Madras (1990), and has several publications on energy efficiency, environment and climate change to his credit.

Paolo Bertoldi Mr. Bertoldi has been working with the European Commission since 1986. Since May 2001, he is Principal Administrator at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (Ispra, Italy), in charge of research activities for energy efficiency policy, the efficient use of electricity and innovative policy instruments (e.g. white certificates, financing mechanisms, emission trading). From 1986 to 1993 he was working in the EU nuclear fusion project, Joint Undertaking Torus (JET) in the UK. For 1993 until April 2001, he was Administrator with the European Commission, DG Energy and Transport (DG TREN, Brussels Belgium), in charge of EU regulatory and voluntary programmes for the rational use of energy in end-use equipment, buildings and industry. He was also in charge of negotiated and long term agreements with industry and tertiary sectors and the GreenLight programme. David P. Bailey David P. Bailey is the Manager, Climate Policy for Exxon Mobil Corporation. He has been active in the energy industry since 1978, first in the UK coal industry and since 1989 with Mobil in Europe and since 1998 with ExxonMobil in the US. He has held a variety of positions in the Human Resources, Public Affairs and Government Relations fields. A graduate of Oxford University, David is currently based in Washington, DC. Paul Baudry Paul Baudry is senior expert on Energy Efficiency at EDF / R&D. Related projects cover energy efficiency policy issues, evaluation of potentials and energy efficiency programmes, advanced technologies and services for energy efficiency. Mr. Baudry is member of the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. He joined EDF in the R&D division in 1990 where he first developed advanced lithium batteries for electricity storage. From 1999, he managed a group research on efficient use of energy and energy foresight. Ronald L. King After a 45 year career spanning all channels in the industrial and commercial insulation - construction industry, Ron King recently retired as the Chairman, President and CEO of one of the United States largest insulation distributors. He is a past President of the National Insulation Association (NIA), the Southwest Insulation Contractors Association and the World Insulation and Acoustic Congress Organization and has been honored with numerous awards for his contributions to the industry. Mr. King is currently an advisor and consultant to NIA which includes chairing the National Mechanical Insulation Committee for the National Institute of Building Sciences' and liaison to NIA's sister European sister organization, FESI. Tetsuya Maekawa Mr. Maekawa, General Manager of Energy Solution of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), is now leading Marcy Reed Marcy Reed is responsible for all government relations in the US and the corporate giving programs and community relations. She is involved with policy development, advancing the climate change agenda, and ensuring the tie between the company and the community is strong. Ms. Reed has held positions in finance, merger integration, and corporate affairs. She is the executive sponsor for National Grid’s Women in Networks affinity group and is on the Boards of The Partnership in Boston and the United Way. |
